Survey Finds Increase in Outsourcing Demand

October 31st, 2008

Outsourcing was at the center of labor talks between Boeing and the International Association of Machinists and resulted in the aerospace giant making some concessions on the practice in the future.

Despite that news, outsourcing appears to be on the rise following the results of a new study from sourcing advisory company EquaTerra. The firm surveyed some 200 outsourcing suppliers and found that more than 40 percent had seen an increase in demand even amid current economic conditions, reports InfoWorld.

Companies are turning their focus to shorter, quick return on investment deals and away from longer-term initiatives, suggests the survey. This cost saving measure, along with organizations who have chosen to do so through backsourcing, gives credence to the argument that outsourcing is going through a “natural rebalancing.”
