In 2007, Romania will be the main destination for the Austrian investors among the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, according to a report conducted by Oesterreichische Kontrollbank (OeKB), cited by Mediafax. In 2007, Romania will attract 20 per cent of the new FDI made by Austrian companies in its region. Austrian enterprises will invest in 169 new projects in Eastern and Central Europe, and Romania will benefit from one fifth of the overall investment. The main sectors targeted by the Austrian investors are the manufacturing industry, the constructions sector, the banking industry and the corporate services. The OeKB survey seeks to assess the attractiveness of the business environment in 19 Central and Eastern European countries: Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Croatia, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, the Republic of Moldova, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia and Montenegro, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ukraine and Hungary. The trade deficit went up by 83 pc, in the first two months of 2007. The average inflation rate, in the first three months placed at 0.1 pc, much above the 0.5 pc level recorded during January-March 2006.
BUCHAREST – Consumer price indexes mentained at the same level in March, recording a mere 0.07 pc advance against February, and the annual inflation rate recorded a new minimum record after 1990, at a level of 3.66 pc, according to the data published by the National Institute for Statistics (INS). As the need for proficient information technology (IT) infrastructure services continues to grow, analysts at market research firm Aberdeen say that outsourcing is an increasingly popular option that leading companies are turning to for efficiently fulfilling IT needs.
Outsourcing IT infrastructure is nothing new; the practice has been on a steady rise since around 2003, when Aberdeen reported that worldwide IT spending began picking up from a low one percent growth in 2002. That same year, Ericsson made waves with a decision to outsource its worldwide IT infrastructure to Hewlett Packard. (more…)

The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) will allocate RON 186,000 for the national pavilion and for the support of the Romanian IT companies at the fair to take place during April 22th – 26th, in San Francisco, organised by the company for market research, Gartner, Costin Lianu, director in MEC told a press conference.
â€œRomania will be represented in the fair by 8 companies in the national stand, but in the conference organised by the Romanian – American Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with the MEC, MCTI and the Romanian Association for Electronic and Software Industry (ARIES), â€œInvesting in & Partenering with Romanian Technology Companiesâ€, on April 26-27, the number of Romanian representatives of the Romanian IT sector will be doubleâ€ added Lianu.
