Consumer prices up 0.2 pc in January, according to National Statistics Institute.

15The annualised inflation rate decreased to 4 per cent in late January, after the annual inflation rate last year reached 4.87 per cent.

According to the National Statistics Institute (INS) the consumer price index went up in January by 0.2 per cent, as against 1 per cent in the corresponding month of 2006, primarily due to the rise in service prices, which is why the annualised inflation rate decreased by approx. one per cent. The average rise in service prices last month was 1.4 per cent, foodstuff prices went up 0.3 per cent while non-food prices dropped by 0.2 per cent.

Industrial output picked up 7.1 pc last year
